About this event
Celebrating M.F.K. Fisher's The Theoretical Foot, with Kennedy Golden and Jane Vandenburgh

When her literary agent died in 2009 M.F.K. Fisher's first novel was found in manuscript form, packed neatly in one of Robert Lescher's famous red boxes.

Written in Switzerland in 1938 as the surround war drew ever closer, it tells of a late summer's idle at La Prairie, the gorgeous restored farmhouse Fisher and her great love Dillwyn Parrish kept in a vineyard above Lake Geneva, when each was still married to someone else. But why was this exquisite book withheld from publication during the master stylist's lifetime?

Join her longtime editor Jack Shoemaker, her daughter Kennedy Golden and novelist Jane Vandenburgh, who retyped the manuscript, to get at some of the more plausible answers to this question.
